Communities of Ancallachi, Rosaspata, Quinsapujio

Perú, Ancallachi 2026

The communities of Ancallachi, Rosaspata, Quinsapujio, and Ccolccampata now have access to clean, reliable electricity and Sustainable Internet. The project installed 25 solar home systems, and a solar-powered community center with satellite internet powered by 28 solar panels, bringing renewable energy to 25 families.

Households can now leave behind one-time use batteries and take advantage of safe lighting, mobile phone charging, powering essential household appliances, and stay connected through reliable internet access. The community center (which also hosts a pre-school) has become a shared space for education, communication, digital learning, and community gatherings.

This project demonstrates how solar charity initiatives and impact-driven partnerships can empower remote communities, expand opportunities, reduce energy poverty, and strengthen long-term sustainable development. Every installation helps bring light, connectivity, and new possibilities to rural families and children.

SAIT
Pedregal High School

Perú, Pedregal 2026

At the Pedregal Rural Center for Alternating Education (CRFA), solar power and internet access are now part of everyday school life. With the installation of 12 solar panels, an LFP battery system, and satellite internet, 18 areas across the campus now have reliable electricity and connectivity. The project directly benefits 58 students and 15 teachers and administrative staff, giving them access to digital tools that support learning, teaching, and communication. For students who live on campus for 15 days at a time, reliable electricity also provides better conditions to study, live, and carry out their daily activities.

NAIT
Pedregal Elementary School

Perú, Pedregal 2026

At Pedregal Elementary School, access to solar power and the internet has changed everyday life for students and teachers. Thanks to the installation of 9 solar panels, a lithium battery, and a satellite internet system, 15 areas across the school, including classrooms, the kitchen, dining hall, storage rooms, and teacher dormitories, now have reliable electricity and internet access. This allows 20 students and 5 teachers to use laptops, tablets, and projectors in their daily lessons, access online educational resources, and learn with tools that were once out of reach. 

The system plays a critical role in meal preparation by supplying the electricity to better prepare meals for the children. By using blenders, electric kettles, and light they are able to prepare food faster and save money on propane tanks.

INSTITUTO FE Y ALEGRIA
IESTP FE Y ALEGRÍA 74

Perú, Nieva 2026

At IESTP Fe y Alegría 74, solar energy is expanding learning opportunities. With the installation of 18 solar panels and a 10.9 kWp solar system, the computer lab now provides reliable electricity for 30 computers, generating enough clean energy to fully power daily operations. This gives more students consistent access to digital learning, strengthens their technical skills, and helps prepare them for the jobs of the future.

TERRA NUOVA
PLANTAIN FLOUR PRODUCTION FACILITY

Perú, Soledad 2025-2026

Light Up The World Partnered with Terra Nuova partnered to bring the community of Soledad an expansion of the solar energy system powering its plantain processing facility. By installing an additional 56 solar panels, the system’s capacity increased to 32.66 kWp, enabling the operation of new equipment and supporting higher production levels. Today, the project directly benefits 240 producers and collaborators, has produced 13.4 metric tons of dehydrated plantain chips, and aims to reach 80 metric tons by 2026. This investment has strengthened a community-led business that generates income for local families and now supplies markets in Europe and the United States.

EMPOWERMENT EXPEDITION HUARCAYA HEALTH CLINIC

Perú, Huarcaya 2025

LUTW partnered with incredible volunteers from Canada and the United States to bring electricity and sustainable internet access to the Huarcaya Health clinic. A 2.2kWp solar system with LFP batteries now power a vaccine fridge, lights, satellite internet, hemoglobin monitor, space heater for births and more. Within the first week of the system being installed the clinic was able to provide better care to the over 500 residents in the community through extended hours, heat for births, and using the internet to coordinate with local hospitals before transferring patients.

NAIT/SAIT
HUARCAYA K-12 SCHOOL

Perú, Huarcaya 2025

LUTW partnered with incredible volunteers and faculty from SAIT and NAIT to bring light, warmth, and digital connection to the village of Huarcaya. For the first time ever, the local school now has electricity, a solar thermal system with hot water, a modern computer lab, and high-speed internet — transforming access to education for the entire community.

Despite extreme weather and rugged terrain, our dedicated team installed a full off-grid photovoltaic system, worked alongside the local community, and built lasting bonds through shared purpose and cultural exchange. Thanks to our generous partners and passionate volunteers, the children of Huarcaya now have the tools and hope for a brighter, connected future.

CCORIMAYO CLINIC

Perú, Ccorimayo 2024

At the Ccorimayo Health Center, reliable electricity and internet connectivity have transformed access to essential healthcare services for an entire rural community. Through the installation of 9 solar panels and satellite internet, the project now provides reliable power across all rooms supporting lighting, vaccine and medicine refrigeration, laboratory equipment, sterilization, communications, and digital health services. The initiative has improved healthcare delivery for 1,080 community members and supports 4 healthcare professionals, enabling better patient care, faster emergency response, and access to the digital tools needed to serve one of Peru’s remote communities.

SANTA ROSA SCHOOL & COMMUNITY CENTER

Perú, Santa Rosa 2024

In May 2024, NAIT students and professors partnered with Light Up The World to install a sustainable off-grid solar and internet system in the remote Peruvian community of Santa Rosa, providing reliable electricity and connectivity to the elementary school and community building while gaining hands-on experience and deep cultural immersion. Over 20 students and 3 teachers benefit from the system along with the more than 100 community members that take advantage of internet connectivity to avoid costly travel.

PAUCHINTANI
WESTERN COLORADO

Perú, Pauchintani 2024

Pauchintani Primary School now has reliable electricity and internet access thanks to a 1.48 kW solar photovoltaic system powered by 4 solar panels. The system provides clean energy to 14 areas across the school, and the project included the installation of 25 lights, directly benefiting 13 students. As a result, classes can now take place in brighter learning spaces, teachers and students have access to digital tools, and the school offers a better environment for teaching and learning every day.

SANTA ROSA CLINIC

At the Santa Rosa Health Post, solar energy is strengthening access to essential healthcare services in a remote area of Huancavelica. A 2.22 kW solar PV system powered by 6 solar panels provides reliable electricity across 10 healthcare areas and includes 12 lighting points, benefiting 280 community members. The system supports vaccine and medicine refrigeration, sterilization, maternal and neonatal care, digital tools, and essential communication services, helping healthcare workers provide safer and more consistent care every day.

SANTA ROSA DE LLILLINTA SCHOOL

Perú, Llillinta 2024

 At 4,278 meters above sea level, Santa Rosa de Llillinta Primary School now has reliable electricity and internet access. A 1.48 kWp solar PV system with 4 solar panels supplies clean energy to 8 areas across the school, improving learning conditions for 15 students. The system supports lighting, connectivity, digital learning tools, and other essential school equipment, bringing new educational opportunities to a remote community of 40 residents in Huancavelica.

SAN JUAN DE ASTOBAMBA CLINIC

Perú, Astobamba 2023

In San Juan de Astobamba, LUTW installed 9 solar panels to provide reliable solar power across 5 areas of the local health post. The system supports lighting, vaccine and medicine storage, medical equipment, communications, and internet access. The project improves healthcare for 197 registered residents and strengthens essential services for a remote community of 245 people located 4,378 metres above sea level. It shows how solar projects in remote communities can expand clean energy access and bring reliable renewable energy to rural areas of Peru.

At Pucaccasa Primary School No. 36818, LUTW installed 6 solar panels to provide reliable power across 7 school areas. The project added 25 lighting points and 12 electrical outlets, creating better conditions for classes and daily school activities. The installation benefits 40 students and expands clean energy access in a rural community of 80 residents.

IPIPATA

Perú, Ipipata 2023

At the Ipipata Primary School, solar energy is creating better conditions for teaching and learning. A 1.48 kW solar PV system powered by 4 solar panels now supplies reliable electricity to 5 school areas, including 2 classrooms, the principal’s office, the dining area, and the kitchen. The installation includes 12 lighting points and directly benefits 12 students in a community of 90 residents. The system was designed to support internet access, digital learning tools, lighting, and other essential school equipment, helping expand clean energy access and educational opportunities in rural Huancavelica.

PUCACCASA

Perú, Pucaccasa 2023

In Pucaccasa, Huancavelica, LUTW installed 3 solar panels at Early Education School No. 36818, bringing reliable solar power to its 4 learning spaces. The project added 14 lighting points and 7 electrical outlets, allowing students and teachers to use laptops, a projector, a printer, and other classroom resources. The installation benefits 29 students and expands learning opportunities in a rural community of 80 residents. This solar project in a remote community brings sustainable energy and essential educational tools closer to rural Peru.

Perú, Paccllapampa 2023

NAIT students, faculty, and volunteers took part in bringing solar power and satellite internet to Pallccapampa’s primary and early education schools in Huancavelica. The project installed 9 solar panels, 23 lighting points, and 24 electrical outlets across 9 classrooms. As a result, 25 students now have better conditions to learn, access to educational resources, and staying connected. The installation also piloted for the first time LUTW’s sustainable connectivity initiative for a rural communities which connected of 50+ residents and the school to the internet.

INCACANCHA

Perú, Incacancha 2023

In Incacancha, access to reliable electricity is helping bring essential healthcare closer to local families. Located at 4,676 meters above sea level, the health post is powered by a 2.7 kW solar PV system with 6 solar panels, providing clean energy across 11 areas of the facility. The project benefits 538 community members and supports the daily work of 3 healthcare professionals, helping them maintain lighting, vaccine refrigeration, sterilization, maternal care, basic diagnostic services, communication, and satellite internet. For this remote community in Cusco, dependable solar power means better conditions for both patients and the team caring for them.

TERRA NUOVA
SOLEDAD

Perú, Soledad 2023

Terra Nuova entrusted LUTW to design and install a custom off-grid solar energy system powering a plantain flour production facility in the Amazonian community of Soledad. Since its installation in 2022 it has boosted local economic development by providing full time work for many indigenous community members and has impacted over 200 families in the surrounding region.

PATAHUASI

Perú, Huancavelica 2022

In the community of Patahuasi 20 students walked about an hour to school each way to attend classes without energy or digital tools. LUTW changed that in collaboration with generous volunteers by installing a 1.6kWp solar system with LFP battery storage. Now, teachers use projectors and laptops to teach students and have access to lighting when it gets dark. Parents feel more confident that their children are getting a better education and students are more engaged during class.

CCOLLPAPATA

Perú, Huancavelica 2022

At 4,200 metres above sea level, the Ccollpapata Elementary School now has reliable electricity. A 825 W solar PV system powered by 4 solar panels brings clean energy access to the school, improving daily learning conditions for 30 children and supporting the work of one staff member.

The system powers 15 lights and allows the school to use laptops, projectors, printers, sound equipment, television, radios, and mobile phones. In a community of 300 residents where limited access to electricity had prevented the use of technology, sustainable energy is helping teachers create more engaging lessons and giving young children new opportunities to learn.

PUEBLO NUEVO

Perú, Huancavelica 2022

At Pueblo Nuevo Elementary School No. 22614, the installation of 3 solar panels brought reliable lighting and power to 7 school areas, as well as the schoolyard. The project added 23 lighting points and 15 electrical outlets, improving conditions in classrooms, the administrative office, kitchen, storage area, and restrooms. This initiative supports the school’s daily operations and expands access to sustainable energy for rural education.

SOLEDAD

Perú, Amazonas 2022

The first phase of multiple phases where LUTW powered the plantain flour production facility in Soledad with six trained technicians of the town. This project initially benefitted 260 people at its initial capacity. The initial system consisted of a 3.6kWp solar system, a 6KVA inverter, VFD’s for industrial machinery and 20kWh of lead acid energy storage.

We powered 6 schools in the remote communities in the Peruvian amazon. Over 400 children in remote communities in the amazon will now able to use tablets, computers and digital learning technologies.

Over 6 thousand people live off-grid in Todos Santos, Guatemala.
LUTW continued the work started in 2011 to bring light to the schools and community buildings left without power. Today over 400 homes and 6 schools are powered with LUTW solar systems and 26 local technicians are trained in design, maintenance and installations.
